Aviation Services
A&Ps, avionics shops, painters, inspectors, ferry pilots, and instructors.
Owning an aircraft is really a long-term relationship with a small network of people who keep it flying. This category is where you'll find them: certified A&P and IA mechanics, full-service maintenance shops, avionics installers, paint and interior shops, aircraft detailers, pre-buy inspectors, ferry pilots, CFIs and CFIIs, type-rating instructors, aircraft-management companies, and specialty services like weight-and-balance, ADS-B installation, and annual inspections.
Every service provider listing includes location, specialties, certifications, and — where applicable — ratings and insurance information. You can filter by service type and distance from your home field, so you're not calling five shops in the wrong state before finding one near you.
If you run a shop or operate as an independent A&P or CFI, listing your services is currently free — service listings run for a generous 180 days. We want every reputable shop and instructor on the field represented here.
Choosing the right service provider
Certifications matter, but they're a floor, not a ceiling. For maintenance, look for A&P/IA for inspections and major work, and specialized authorizations for things like turbine engine work, propeller overhauls, or avionics installation. Ask about factory training for your specific airframe — a shop that's worked on Cessna 340s for twenty years is a different proposition than one that's seen a handful.
For avionics, check whether the shop holds a Part 145 repair station certificate. Part 145 shops can perform a broader range of work and their documentation is easier to accept during future ownership transfers.
Insurance matters more than people admit. Ask your shop about their hangarkeeper's liability limits and whether they carry product liability coverage. For flight instruction, ask the CFI about their own insurance policy — it's not about distrust, it's about what happens if an incident involves both the aircraft owner and the instructor.
Finally: the aviation community is small. Ask around on type-club forums and at your local pilots' association before you commit to a major project like a paint job or a panel upgrade. A quick reference check can save you six months of frustration.
Frequently asked questions
Do you verify A&P or CFI certifications?
We require providers to self-identify their certifications and encourage them to upload verification. Buyers can confirm any U.S. airman certificate through the FAA Airmen Certification database.
How do I find a pre-buy inspector near me?
Filter the services listings by location and specialty. Any reputable pre-buy inspector should be willing to travel — factor a day or two of labor plus travel into your budget.
Can I list flight instruction services?
Yes. CFIs, CFIIs, MEIs, type-rating instructors, and full flight schools all fit this category. Include your ratings, aircraft available, and typical hourly rates in the listing.
How much does a services listing cost?
Services listings are currently free and run for 180 days. We're building out this category and want every reputable shop, mechanic, and instructor represented.
Do services listings include reviews?
Reviews are a planned feature. For now, we recommend asking for references from two or three recent customers before committing to any major work.
